Atlet trucks
Atlet AB in Mölnlycke manufactures trucks. Since the 1980s Atlet has been working alongside designers in a strategic, long-term effort to strengthen the company and its brand image.
Atlet commissioned Lasse Pettersson at the design company Nya Perspektiv to develop a number of truck models that, in accordance with the company's specification of requirements, had to be well planned, functional and attractive. The design solution was far from only cosmetic – it was expected to permeate the entire product.
A great deal of time was put into the analysis and identification of basic requirements and target groups. A number of sketches and models were created from the proposals, and prototypes built to test the products in their proper environments. Much attention was paid to the following four aspects of design: function, technology, customisation and brand, as well as economic considerations.
Atlet's trucks were awarded the 1994 Excellent Swedish Design prize and the 1995 Design and Construction Award.
