Programs and projects

SVID places extra focus on a number of areas that we see are in great need of development. Our national programme areas link regional activities at the national level.

In these programmes we work to make visible design’s role in furthering development, including by running projects, creating meeting places and highlighting good examples.

The Health Programme

Heath, nursing care and medical care are areas where design can be of major benefit in developing user-oriented solutions. Design can get us to redefine how we look at problems, what possibilities exist and what decisions we need to take to develop a system of medical care and nursing care.

One example of initiatives is the Summer Design Office of 2012, when SVID operated offices with the theme of health in five locations around Sweden.

The Destination programme

What is it about a place that makes people happy there? Why do they want to visit that particular city or region? Design as a driving force to develop destinations focuses on how design can help to develop attractive regions, places and environments in which to live, build and work and visit. To create such places requires a competitive private sector but also the design of public services.

We want to provide a variety of inspirational ways to develop places with design! In the Destination programme we are working to develop attractive regions, places, environments or events.
