Gunnebo SpeedGate
In 1998 Gunnebo Entrance Control produced their design for a new passage control system. The elliptical SpeedGate was developed with the help of Martin Sallander at T Design in Jönköping with functional, economic, security and environmental aspects in mind. The plan was to produce a gate that while blending into the surroundings was conspicuous enough for visitors to easily locate the entrance.
SpeedGate is marketed under three brands, all of which are based on the same basic structure, and is fully customisable as regards to purpose, environment and security grade. The largest market for this type of passage control system is to be found in the world's underground railway systems.
In just five years, Gunnebo Entrance Control has become the market leader in the field. The company is convinced that design is an essential condition for its own growth and success.
SpeedGate won the Excellent Swedish Design award in 1999.
